Björnrun (Bear Hill)
This is where we live with our 30 huskies. It is one hour by car from Östersund, at the foothills of the mountains.
There is no after-ski or nightlife, but lots of nature and fresh air.
Meet the pack
On your first day with us you will start by saying hi to our pack. They love meeting new people and to get some extra attention.
Time to gear up
You will help getting sleds ready for the dogs and you will also get a thorough introduction to the fine art of sledding.
Start !
We will let the dogs into the starting area, put harnesses on and make sure everyone is in position. As we get closer to the start you will feel the enthusiasm in the air. Huskies are good to go !
In the midst of nowhere
Once we are on our way, dogs will fall into a nice trot and you will have time to take in the nature around you. The only thing you hear is the dogs’ breathing and your heart beating.
Fika-break !
“Fika” is a untranslatable Swedish word but it basically means that we stop for some rest and something to eat.
Homeward bound
If the weather is favourable we head home in the setting sun. As we get close the dogs will speed up, knowing that rest and food is around the corner.
Good work, everyone!
When we get home we take care of the dogs first - harnesses need to come off and everyone needs a hug.
After sled
When dogs have come to rest it is time for humans to get some rest and some food.
Ice fishing
Try it - there are trout and char beneath the ice…..
….or why not ski ?
If you are a fan of back country skiing, this will bring you to ski-heaven.
