Summer activities

Spend a day or two, 5 days or a week with us during Summer! We can offer a wide variety of activities, with or without dogs.

You are welcome to meet our wonderful pack of 30 huskies and help taking care of them. Take a dog on bike, for a walk or why not a run - they love to come with our guests!

Our farm lies on the mountain foothills so hiking is right outside the door of your cabin and can be from one hour to several days. If you want you can stay over in one of our remote cabins.

There is also good fishing in the area - both in lakes and running water and you stand a good chance to catch both trout and char.

In July and August there are plenty of cloudberries, blueberries and into september the lingonberries ripen.

Bring your kids on vacation with us - in our experience they learn quickly to socialise with the dogs and it is a boost for most kids self confidence to manage a pack of 30 huskies. We often have puppies and of course they often find their way into the hearts of both kids and grown-ups.

And yes, we do have internet at the farm……

Day 1: Arrival. If you travel by plane or train, we can arrange for your pick-up at Östersund airport or train station. After you arrive and accomodate yourself in one of our cabins, you will have time to start to getting to know our farm. If it is not too late, it is possible to meet for the first time our dogs who are always eager to greet new guests. The day ends with a delicious dinner (over an open fire if you wish), where we plan the adventures for the rest of the week together.

Day 2: After a healthy breakfast, you are there with us when we give breakfast to all dogs. They eat in their kennels where they live 2-4 dogs together. Then you watch to let out all 30 dogs procedure to a large resting yard where they can run, play, rest and spend time with each other and with you. This is an important part of maintaining order in the pack and it is a great opportunity for you to get to know all the dogs and their different personalities. If we take out the dog brush, there will soon be a queue of dogs waiting to be combed! After about 1.5 hours they get to go into their kennels again and it is a good opportunity for us to have a cup of coffee. Then it is time to take out some of the dogs for some training - for example with a kick-bike or sled cart and here you are welcome to ride yourself, if you feel comfortable with it. If it is hot, there will be obedience training and a walk, perhaps with a stop in the nearby lake. It is also great to go for a run with a dog! After the training, there will be some sweets and pats as a reward. In the afternoon, it's time to have the whole flock out again in the picnic area and then they have dinner. Then we also eat a well-deserved dinner and if you still have enough energy, you can take an evening walk, maybe with a dog! With coming summer days are long.

Day 3: Hiking and overnight stay in a cobin. We have access to cabins by the water, in the forest and near the mountains and it is possible to adjust the length of the hike. After breakfast you pack for an overnight stay. Depending on the choice of trip, you either carry the food you need, or we make sure that it is transported to the cabin. We make sure you know how to go and if you wish, we will follow. When you come to the cabin you unpack, make fire and cook and can enjoy evening free from distractions. If you have chosen a cabin by the water, take the opportunity to try your luck at fishing. If it goes well, there may be some fresh trout for supper! The next day you eat breakfast and you can walk home when it suits you.
Maybe you are a fan of tenting? Everything is possible, take advantage of the beautiful untouched nature in our area and hikes without company of many other tourists, you can choose your own perfect place under the stars for your sleepover.

Day 4: After breakfast and spending time with the dogs, you can make an excursion up to the mountain Ansätten, which you had a view of during the week. You start from Bakvattnet which is 5km from our farm, and follow Blomsterleden 6km up the mountain which has a calcareous soil, where many plants thrive, including Jämtland's landscape flower Brunkullan. From the end of July, there are also cloudberries to pick along the trail. Once up, you enjoy a packed lunch and spectacular view.

Day 5: Time to say goodbye. Maybe one of the dogs has a special place in your heart and needs a little extra cuddling before you go…If you traveled by plane or train, we can arrange transport for you to the airport or train station.
